Potentials,
development orientations and investment opportunities in economic
sectors
Agriculture
and forestry: |
Agriculture is always an economic sector that plays important roles
in food security and providing raw materials for processing
industries in the province.
In the coming years, agricultural development
orientation will concentrate on internal
structure shift. That is to
put more weight to cash crops so as develop processing industry and
to plan for meadow establishment in order to put more weight to
husbandry. Specifically:
- Cotton: the province will reach 3,000-4,000ha with
the yeild of 4,500-5,000 tons and 8,000-10,000ha with 10,000-15,000
tons in 2005 and 2010 respectively. The cotton growing areas are
mainly in communes in the boudaries of irrigation areas of Song Trau
and Tan Giang lakes. This will make sure to provide raw materials
for the planed cotton laminating plant to be invested for
construction.
- Sugarcane: the province has 2,000-3,000ha and will
expand to 5,000-6,000ha. Sugarcane plant is mainly grown in Ninh Son
and bac Ai districts in the boundaries of irrigation areas of Song
Sat lake and Krongpha irrigation system.
- Tobacco: about 2,000ha with the yeild of 4.5 thousand
tons, which are mainly grown in the north of Ninh Phuoc district
and
several communes in Ninh Son district.
- Grape: about 2,000ha, mainly new seeds, with the yeild of
some 30 thousand tons. Mainly grown in Ninh Phuoc district and Phan
Rang-Thap Cham.
- Cashew: the province will strive for achieving cows, goats and
sheep in the direction of farm economy linked with hosehold economy.
Develp plan and grow meadows in connection with the improvement of
cattle. It will strive for having 100,000 cows, and 200,000 goats
and sheep in 2010.
As for forestry: total land stock is about 200,000ha, of
which 150 thousand ha of forests for protection and special purpose.
It is expected to of forest 1,500-2,000ha of concentrated forests
and 500 thousand trees in order to increase forest coverage from
46.8% in 2000 to 50% in 2005 and 55% in 2010. It will also exploit
about 2,000m3 of timber each year to meet with the timber processing
requirement of plants in the province./.
