Ninh Thuan’s coastal area is one of four major and most profitable fishing fields in the country that can be exploited all around the year. Total reserve is 120,000 million tons, from which 50-60 thousand tons can be exploited every year with several species that are of high economic value like snappers, groupers and mackerels, and some of high yeild to produce fish sauce like long-jawed anchovy and scads.

    The province has 3,000 ha of water surface and some 2,500ha of coastal sandy land thast is good for large-scale aquaculture. This is a condition to make aqua-cultural products become a leading economic sector that plays its key role in the economy growth and export, job creation and promotion of the development of processing industry.

    In the future, aqua-cultural product sector will be developed in a uniform manner for all four stages that are aqua culture, harvesting, processing and services. Expand the existing fishing ports and at the same time set up fishing logistical service centers in Khanh Hoi, Dong Hai and Ca Na to facilitate ships and boats in the province and other provinces to be in and out to exchange and purchase/sell aqua-cultural products, and losgistical services. In the intermediate term, quickly complete the construction of and put into operation the infrstructure of Khanh Hoi fishing logistical service center so as to facilitate the construction of fish processing plant and ship/boat repair units. Concentrate on taking advantage of aquaculture, mainly growing shrimps for meat and producing breeding shrimps, especially in sandy land. Strive for achieving, in 2010, the total land area of 3,000-3,500 ha, the yeild of 9,000-10,000 tons of shrimps for meat and 5 billion of P15 breeding shrimps to make Ninh Thuan become the country major center for breeding shrimp production./.
